About me

Amber is working toward her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia College in 2021. Amber has worked in the Non-profit sector for more than a decade, working closely with vulnerable populations such as homeless pregnant women and youth in foster care. She is passionate about working with youth, adults, couples, and families, particularly interested in the impact of culture and contextual factors. Amber believes individuals are always in the process of “becoming,” that one’s social context plays a crucial role in human functioning, and that unconditional positive regard is necessary for healing. She believes that facilitating healing is done through a process of genuine dialogue while cultivating a collaborative therapeutic alliance. Amber’s approach to counseling integrates Adlerian, Person-Centered, and Existential theory with a system’s orientation. She is also willing to integrate a biblical worldview when the client desires. Amber is a recently certified SYMBIS Assessment Facilitator and is a member of the American Counseling Association. She is planning to become a Licensed Professional Counselor after graduating in December 2023. Amber is supervised by Cristina Lorenz-Hansen at Family Counseling Associates of North Georgia.
