Karen Stern

Masters Level Intern

Focus: Adults, Couples, and Families

My Story

Karen is currently pursuing her Masters of Social Work through the University of
Memphis. She is on a clinical path, with the intention and excitement to work as a
therapist post graduation. Karen values integrative approaches to mental health
practices. She believes that empathy, trust, and connection is at the core of helping
anyone heal. Her specialty is working with adults and couples.
She is under the supervision of Cristina Lorenz-Hansen, MSW, LCSW.

I believe deeply in the mind–body connection and in the healing power of genuine human relationships. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Kansas and am currently wrapping up my Master of Social Work at the University of Memphis.
I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, drawing from a holistic perspective that honors the interconnection between emotional and physical well-being. My approach is rooted in mindfulness-based modalities and the belief that healing begins by cultivating one’s inherent strengths, self-worth, and capacity for self-care.
At the core of my work is the therapeutic relationship itself. I strive to create a relaxed, collaborative environment where clients feel truly seen, heard, and supported as they move toward personal growth and lasting change—empowering them to live fuller, more balanced, and optimal lives.
