My Story

Jay graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville with his Bachelors in Human & Organizational Development. He went on to earn his Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Jay is now working towards earning his LPC(Licensed Professional Counselor).

Jay has many years of experience working with the Department of Children’s Services & the foster care system. He also has extensive experience working with private adoptions. Jay has also logged hundreds of hours in intense family counseling sessions, many times involving reunification scenarios. He was most recently Residential Director at Smoky Mountain Children's Home in Sevierville Tennessee, where he worked directly with teenagers and their families.

Jay seeks to work with families, teens and adult males. He has vast experience with nuclear family and single parent households. Jay spent almost 15 years as a full time single parent. He has worked with many families regarding issues such as isolation, drug issues, alcohol use, grief, divorce, visitation issues, neglect and physical/sexual abuse.

Jay works under the supervision of Della Hightower, M. Div., LPC, CPC
