About Me

Lanier earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Miami University in Ohio.  She obtained a master’s in Forensic Psychology and a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling — both from Marymount University in Virginia.  Lanier holds a certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and Georgia.  She is an active member in the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association (LPCA) of Georgia.

Lanier specializes in working with adults who are struggling with substance use and/or mood disorders.  She has extensive experience in working with the court system and spent about 7 years working in Adult Drug Courts in Virginia prior to moving back home to Georgia.  In this field, she has worked with a wide variety of individuals who have struggled with addiction and mental health disorders as the therapist, the case manager, and the coordinator or director of these court programs.  She is certified in Moral Resonation Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy and uses both therapeutic modalities often in her work with clients.  Lanier has the mindset that the therapeutic alliance is the foundation of effective intrapersonal work.  She uses an integrated approach to best meet the needs of each individual she works with.
