Melody Healan Counseling Intern

Melody is a counseling intern currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Agnes Scott College. She earned her B.S. in Psychology, graduating Cum Laude from Georgia Gwinnett College. Before entering the counseling field, Melody spent 18 years as an educator in Gwinnett County. This experience deepened her understanding of early childhood development and the powerful role that play has in healing and learning. Her clinical approach is rooted in Adlerian theory, with a particular focus on the family constellation and how early experiences influence one’s identity and relationships. She believes that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and she strives to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and truly heard. Melody is especially passionate about working with children, adolescents, and families. She is dedicated to helping clients recognize their unique strengths and build the confidence to take meaningful steps toward personal growth and change. Guided by the belief that play is a vital part of growth and development, she often draws inspiration from the words of Mister Rogers: “Children have very deep feelings just the way parents do. Just the way everybody does. I feel our striving to understand those feelings, and to better respond to them, is an important task in our world”. Melody and her family live in Walton County where she enjoys raising backyard chickens, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and going on adventures with her dog, Leia. She is honored to walk alongside clients in their journey toward growth, healing, and self-discovery. Melody is under the supervision of Dr. Amanda Slaughter Ed.D, LPC, RPT-S, CPCS.
